Eastman Cerfis Technology

Joe Wettstein

Holidays are settling down and the year is coming to an end. How many of you are returning to your 2015 New Year’s resolutions before crafting new ones for 2016? If you’re like me and many others, you had some sort of home improvement project on your list for the year. If that project was installing moulding, I’d like to offer a few tips to help you wrap up that up.

It’s no secret that I highly recommend Finished Elegance® – the most durable, flawless, and easy-to-install moulding on the market. For the person trying to wrap up a moulding project with a limited time frame, there’s just no better option. You can see the steps required to install traditional moulding compared to installing Finished Elegance below:

Finished Elegance Steps

Because Finished Elegance is already coated with Eastman Cerfis Technology, it does not require painting. The benefit to you: less time to install and less frustration. You can see a video of the installation process here:

Whether you elect traditional moulding or Finished Elegance, here are some tips to help you get started and finish your project:

    1. Educate yourself first. Pick your moulding type, and dedicate the time needed based on the size of your space. YouTube is a great resource not just for cat videos, but for tutorials on installing moulding, as well.
    2. Measure twice! Take time to make sure your measurements are accurate. Once you’re in the store, purchase the amount of moulding you think you need PLUS 15% more. Measurement mistakes are almost inevitable, and having that extra moulding will save you a trip back to the store.
    3. It’s all about the tools. I highly recommended using a nail gun and miter saw for the smoothest installation process. If you don’t have these tools at home, you can borrow them from a friend or rent them.

Best of luck completing your resolution home improvement projects, and Happy New Year from all of us here at Woodgrain!

Finished Elegance

Wondering if Finished Elegance moulding is right for your home? We’ve answered some frequently asked questions below to help you make the decision.

  1. How does Finished Elegance differ from traditional moulding?
The main difference is that Finished Elegance is coated on all four sides and requires no painting. It comes installation-ready.
  2. How does the Finished Elegance coating compare to traditional painted millwork?
Finished Elegance is coated (not painted) on all four sides with Eastman Cerfis™ technology. Cerfis technology was developed and patented by Eastman Chemical Company, and Woodgrain Millwork is the only North American manufacturer to use this proprietary technology. The result is precise, consistent, and customizable coating that provides superior durability. If you need moulding that will hold up over time, Finished Elegance is exactly what you’re looking for.
  3. If Finished Elegance costs more than traditional moulding, how am I saving money?
Since Finished Elegance requires no painting, the upfront cost is offset by the time, materials, and overhead savings.
  4. How do I install Finished Elegance?
Install Finished Elegance in three easy steps: First, cut the moulding to fit your wall. Then, install the pieces with traditional moulding installation tools. Finally, fill/caulk to create a seamless finish. Click here to see the easy installation process in action.
  5. What profile options do I have with Finished Elegance?
Finished Elegance has 55 unique profiles to complete any room in your home. Profiles include primary applications and decorative moulding applications such as build-ups, judges paneling and architraves. To see the available profiles and select the right one for your home, please click here.
  6. Can I paint Finished Elegance?
While Finished Elegance requires no painting, it can be painted should you opt to change the color. If you are going to paint Finished Elegance we encourage you to take the following steps:
    1. Scuff with general purpose scuff pad or equivalent (320 grit or higher)
    2. Wipe clean with damp towel/cloth and allow to dry before painting

If you paint Finished Elegance, the paint can only dry from the outside in due to the coating. Therefore, dry times may be longer than normal.
